Hike to the Dürrenberg Alpe (1438 m) and/or the Dürrenberg (1763 m)
The Dürrenbergalpe is a mountain pasture, a farmhouse, where cows are grazing in summer. Nowadays you can buy something to eat or drink there.
It has a wonderful view over the town Reutte, into the Lech valley and the surrounding mountains the "Lechtaler and Allgäuer Alpen".
This is a short easy up- and downhill walk within a short driving distance from Neuschwanstein.
For the walk you don't need hiking shoes, but on the other hand flipflops or high heeled shoes are inadequate. You can stay all the way on the forest road,
but you can also take some mountain-paths.

How to get there

Take any route to Reutte/Austria. Enter the road B179.
Stay on B179 until you see on the left (!) side a big parking area Urisee and a hotel Urisee. Don't turn left here! Go on to the next exit, leave the B179, turn left and enter the B179 again in the opposite direction. As you get to the parking area, park your car..
Walking up

Leave the parking area opposite to the direction you came and walk maybe 50m South close to the road B179. Then enter
the parking area. Now walk uphill, pass the hotel,
follow the signs. You can stay on the forest road or take the smaller footpath up to the Alpe.
If you feel like it, you can also go to the summit of the Dürrenberg (1763 m), which will be another hour,
or order a beer and a "Kaiserschmarrn".
